You must call the visa center daily to request an appointment before your school date. If you cannot get an appointment, you will need to ask your school for a postponement letter, as indicated on our platform.
You can no longer do this on the ANEF website. You must contact your prefecture. Sometimes it is difficult to reach them and it is easier to return to your country to apply for a new French visa, but you must pause your studies and obtain a school registration letter for the next school year (you cannot apply for a visa if your course has already started) or continue online (and obtain an explanatory letter from the school about this).
Yes, only non-EU students do not need a visa.
Instead of a lease, you will provide proof of accommodation: a certificate of accommodation + a copy of your host’s identity document (this is the person listed on the lease of the apartment where you are staying) + proof of address (such as an electricity bill) in the name of your host, dated less than 3 months.
Unless the residence has a special offer regarding cancellation, French law is as follows: you will have to pay the rent from the start of your lease until one month after the day of your cancellation.
For example: if your lease starts on August 1 but you cancel your contract on August 10, you will have to pay from August 1 (the start of your lease) until September 10 (one month after your cancellation). The law in France requires tenants to terminate their contract with a minimum of one month’s notice.
Agency fees are non-refundable, but the deposit is.
Be careful, even if you haven’t paid the rent or the bill yet but have signed the contract, you still have to pay what you owe. There will be legal action if you do not pay, even if you have never entered the apartment or have not received your VISA. It is your duty to send the cancellation letter and pay your rent for a period of time as explained above.
